/sigh
I did not say real world physics are not used. I said they are not used 100%. Rangers are affected by real world physics. Shoot an arrow, and have the target move - you may miss. Shoot an arrow, and target is behind a wall, you hit the wall, not the target. However, if the game was based on real world physics, 100%, then you would not have Necromancer, Elementalist, Ritualist, Mesmer, or Monk spells.
Dye could be extracted by magic, by some 'ability', or some device. I don't think it should, but hey, this is fantasy, anything COULD happen.
As long as there is a Dye Trader, there is no need to 'salvage' dye from items. Use Black dye on a piece of 1.5k armor, and upgrade to FoW armor? Now you want to dye your FoW armor black, but don't have the money to buy more black dye? Tough, go farm for 30 minutes and get the funds easily.
Dye is fine the way it is. A change like this is pointless, and may upset the economy.
